By JENNIFER KLEINER, AP A man awoke Sunday to find his family asleep in a bed in his home.
The woman awoke Sunday night and went to get the children out of bed, but woke up the next morning to find her husband in bed with a toddler and her mother, who had just gotten home from work.
She called police and waited until the child was asleep to call 911.
The man, who was not named, woke up at about 7:30 a.m.
Sunday and found his family was asleep in their beds, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The family, who lives in a condominium in the Mission Valley, were in bed when the man woke up.
“We have a new husband and a new baby.
This is the saddest thing that has ever happened,” the man told KCBS-TV.
“I feel like I’m losing the ability to breathe.
I just need to get back in bed, and I don’t want to wake up my husband.”
The man said he had been having nightmares since the first night he woke up and woke up in bed.
He said he did not want to be alone and would go to sleep until his wife went to the hospital, KCBS reported.
He had no memory of waking up the previous night, KCTV reported.
The father, who has been in and out of the hospital since the incident, said he thought it was an accident.
“When I went to sleep, I woke up to the smell of gasoline and I went straight to the kitchen to get a bottle of gas and a lighter and to put on the stove and I was afraid I was going to kill myself,” the father told KTV.
The mother was in bed and her husband was in a wheelchair.
She was transported to a hospital in San Diego, where she was treated for a cut on her hand, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Her condition was not immediately available.
A woman who was asleep on a bed at the home where the family had been staying reported the family was awake, the Associated Press reported.
A 911 dispatcher said the woman’s husband woke up as she was sleeping and was concerned she was going out, the AP reported.
San Diego police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
